Bus stops get real-time info with e-paper technology
06 March, 2018

Navigating the Sydney bus network just became easier for commuters with Transport for NSW starting the first trials of the latest generation e-paper bus displays.

The solar powered e-paper passenger information displays show bus route information as well as real-time information on planned and unplanned disruption to the bus network.

“This is a game changer for bus customers as this cutting-edge technology provides real-time information at bus stops on bus routes and arrival times, service changes and other travel advice, making everyday commuters and tourists’ lives easier,” Coordinator General Marg Prendergast said.

“This technology allows us to be in constant contact with the customer, ensuring they have up to the minute information to plan ahead and keep moving and it’s great to see Sydney is leading the way in Australia with the first customer-facing trial.

“Two units, located at Town Hall on Park Street and outside the QVB on York Street, will be trialled over the next month. Once the technology has been properly tested and we have heard what our customers think, we will look to roll more units out across the network.”

It's your city. Know what changes are taking place.
