The new CBD and South East Light Rail will link Circular Quay to Randwick and Kingsford via George Street and Central. It will open to customers in 2019.
In 2015, a new Sydney CBD bus network was introduced. As part of these changes, and to coincide with major construction of the new light rail, buses stopped using George Street.
Barangaroo Wharf opened in June 2017, serving Sydney’s newest commercial district and providing increased capacity for ferry services.
The Wynyard Walk pedestrian link, connecting Wynyard Station and Barangaroo, opened in 2016.
The upgrade at Museum Station was completed in 2016. Upgrades at Town Hall and Wynyard stations will be completed in 2017.
A connected cycleway network allows bike riders to travel north-south through the length of the CBD, separated from other road users. New cycleways opened in 2015.
Major commercial and residential developments are currently under construction across the Sydney CBD.
